Pain - at back of knees?
Hi
I’m on the withdrawal process for steroids and now fown from 15mg to 7.5. I am still experiencing pain in shoulders quite bad but now I’m getting pain at the back of my knees ( this is a first) does anyone else have this issue
I’m weaning myself off slowly because the side affects are worse than the pain

How long has it been since your symptoms started? How long have you taken prednisone?
I do wonder how many people feel like they will be on prednisone for the rest of their life. I was at that stage more than once.
I started in July this year
Ann, I’ve had PMR since December last year. Initially, it was my hips that were most painful, then it moved into my shoulders. It’s only been in the last couple of months that I’ve had pain in the back of my knees. Luckily, my hips and shoulders have improved somewhat. My rheumatologist told me the pain was caused by bursitis in my knees. I only recently started on a low-dose of steroid because my PMR was relatively mild and I was trying to avoid the side effects. I’m continuing to have the pain behind my knees so the steroid hasn’t cleared it up just yet. I’m hopeful the steroids will be effective for the bursitis as well as the PMR.
About a week after the sudden onset of PMR with debilitating pain in my shoulders, elbows, wrists and hands, the backs of my knees and the soft tissue at the side of knees started hurting badly too. They are part of my PMR, though I don't know why they took a week longer than the other connective tissue spots to start. At one stage (before starting prednisolone) I couldn't lower myself to the toilet and sitting down and getting up again was a nightmare. As John said, you may have reduced the meds too quickly.
Thank you for your comments . It has been really helpful and in an odd way comforting !! To know I’m not alone and to get advice from this
I have dealt with this for the last 4 years.
totally relating to the absurd difficulty in getting on and off toilet.....
I was newly (sort of) diagnosed PMR. Started prednisone 5 days ago. Not sure what “normal” is and how I should be feeling throughout the day. I do have pain behind my knees too besides shoulder pain, quads, neck but mostly just in the morning. Walking helps, sitting doesn’t. Hoping the prednisone kicks in as expected.🤞
