Lupron treatment and Fatigue...
I am having to decide about Lupron dosages. I can either got monthly or go quarterly. I would get a 3 month dose, in 90 days check the PSA.
I am a care giver for my wife, is the Lupron going to knock me down so I will not be able to tend to our needs, such as meal, laundry and doing the shopping?

I've had three six-month Lupron shots with fourth next February. Side effects are mild hot flashes but frequency has decreased over time, random joint and muscle pains that come and go, and fatigue. Some days worse than others. Rest or take naps when you feel like it. I'm sure it helps to go to the gym at least three days a week. Nothing too strenuous. And I have a dog that insists on being walked one or two miles most days. I can do all normal activities. I think my side effects are not as bad as with some people but I would say never refuse Lupron because of fear of side effects. Most people can deal with them without too much trouble.
Great advise! While I have whined about my hot flashes a bit, I would do it again, and probably will have more Lupron shots, if called for by your doctor I would never advise someone to refuse because of the side effects. Windrider354 is so right.
Hello 'ronc',
I have some experience as a caregiver. My wife was quadriplegic with MS for some 10 years. I started on Lupron about 3 months after she passed and had all the 'normal' side effects. Those would not have stopped me from my previous caregiver role though I would probably have slowed down somewhat. But still doable.
You are the GOOD partner to be the reliable caregiver. Keep up that precious work you provide and God Speed to you both. It ain't easy but you know you can do it.
When I started Lupron in 2020 I had the same concern for fatigue that you do. I would bet lots of money that you will be able to do everything you want and need to while on Lupron. All the best!
@rbee, are you still on Lunpron? What helped you manage the fatigue?
It will be another couple of months before I will know if I am to continue with Lipton.
My fatigue really hit me after a couple of months and it took another few weeks for me to begin dealing with it. It was more a mental thing, I forced my self to pickup my househusband chores and it seems the more I do, the easier it is.
It’s been about nine months since my initial ADT shot and I feel a slight return of the Libido. Is that a negative thing? In Sept my PSA was up to .70 from .03 and testosterone from 398 to 412. Sad to say but at 83 the libido is not necessarily welcome.
Rest or take short naps when you feel like it. But after a reasonable length of time, get up and start moving. Do some chores or take a walk. Once you start moving, you’ll feel better.
Great ideas., that i practice too.
