Sleeping now with Dayvigo and Zopiclone

I'm 70, female, 60 years behind on my sleep, but finally found a solution. Me and my siblings are very poor sleepers, and it was only getting worse. It would take me 3-4 hours to fall asleep, I missed that class on how to fall asleep. So, my stress level was soaring, I developed cardiac arrythmias, and was terrified. I knew my arrythmias wouldn't settle down if I didn't get some sleep.
My brother told me about Dayvigo, I tried it but was disappointed with its effectiveness. One night I was desperate so I decided to take both Dayvigo 10mg and Zopiclone 7.5mg together. Magic!!! They work on different aspects of the sleep cycle which is just what I needed.
I talked to my GP to let him know what I took, and he was okay with it. He gave me a plan...keep the Dayvigo at 10mg, slowly reduce the Zopiclone to the lowest dose that still works. There is a 5mg tab, so I went from 7.5 to 5 to 3.75 (half of 7.5). The 5 mg tab doesn't break well but 2.5mg (roughly) wasn't enough. I settled on 3.75mg.
Dayvigo can't be taken with food, it won't work. So I make sure to stop eating at least 2 hours before I plan on taking it. The 2 meds together hit in about 30 minutes, and hit pretty hard. So I'm all ready to climb into bed before I take them, watch some TV or read until they kick in. I fall asleep within minutes, which has never happened before, and I sleep 3-4 hours solid. I wake up a few times in the latter part of the night but fall back to sleep easily.
I've been doing this for almost 3 months now and take both meds every night, along with Magnesium Bisglycinate 200mg. I'm beyond thrilled with the results. I sleep every night now, arrythmias are totally gone! I have good energy in the day, though I still need my coffee to perk up. I will keep using these meds as long as possible. I hope this can help someone else too.

Drug stores, and amazon, sell tablet cutters. They have a sharp blade like a razor blade in their plastic housing that descends and cuts the tablet placed on a 'shelf' inside the housing. Works like a charm. I take 1/4 Zopiclone when I need help, but not in the past 18 months. I have found that up to 5mg of melatonin at bedtime works, but only if I take it every three or four nights...not nightly!

I have a tablet cutter. Glad you're doing so well on so little medication. Melatonin didn't touch me.
