Hello,
I have surgical clips left in my neck from neck dissection and TORS surgery. I asked my surgeon about exercising (lifting weights) when I was several months post surgery and he said there are no issues with the clips being present.

Thanks I had a X-ray and saw they were there after my neck dissection- I was concerned because I was as scheduled for an MRI-

My wife had thyroid cancer years ago. Hers was removed. To this day surgical clips show up on X-Rays from that surgery. 25 years later.

How are they showing up on an xray if they were removed?

I had a hemi-thyroidectomy 7 months ago and had a neck and back xray performed last month.
The report says surgical clips are present. I have an email into my doctor because I am worried. I wouldn’t think it’d be normal to leave something foreign in the body. I’m shocked by the comments on this thread saying they have still have surgical clips present. I’m thinking about a possible infection setting in even though I’ve had zero symptoms.

Did you ask your doctor why he/she left them in?

The thyroid was removed. The surgeon left the surgical clips. I can see the way I described that the 1st time was confusing. That happened 30 years or so in the past.

I understand it is routine to leave markers where the surgeon removed tissue. I have them from my surgery, and my wife, who had breast cancer, has them also.
