Nighttime Dry Mouth
I'm a 79-year-old female with idiopathic dry mouth that has become progressively worse in the past two years. I go to bed at 11pm and will wake up every hour with dry mouth. When I wake up, I'll use either Act gum, sprays, water, or lozenges. By 5am, my mouth is so dry I have to get up and eat breakfast.
Tests for autoimmune diseases have been negative. Taking Pilocarpine gave me a headache.
Had anyone had success with products that work during the night?

kacey1,
Coconut Oil can be solid in cold or liquid in the warm. It's ok for it to go back and forth between forms. It is also in oil gels. You could try to gels first, poke a hole in it, put a few drops in your mouth, see how you like it. ShelleyW
in reply to @kacey1 I bought a can of liquid coconut oil at Walmart. I mix a small amount, maybe 1/8 cup with equal amount of water in a small glass/cup etc. Stir well to mix, then rinse after brushing your teeth. I did not believe it at first, but then met a young man at the eye glass shop, who said he did the same thing, having found out about this online, of course. I wanted his teeth, if you get my drift. But the mixture does work well. The oil is a tad expensive, but will last a long time, and I use the same oil for cooking etc., so I am not out a lot of money. Best of luck
My oil is called La Tourangelle Organic Suncoco Oil, and it is in a 25.4 ounce can. You are correct that it contains sunflower oil and that is just fine per my dentist. I think I paid about $10 or so for this at Walmart.....
Perrier sparking water helps my dry mouth (feels wetter than water)and calms the stomach upset. also candy ginger from Trader Joe's
What’s the candy Ginger look like,is it hard?
I have found that a stick of Extra Peppermint (sugar free) chewing gum wrapped around 1 ximelts and put between my teeth and gum works most nights. Do Not chew. If I just use ximelts, it irritates my cheek. I hope it works for you!
Have you tried Refresh Digital PF eye drops or Refresh Celluvisc PF eye gel?
No. I’ll look for those. Thanks for the suggestion.
Oracoat Xylimelts, works all night.
The candy has too much sugar, if you are worried about such things. The oil is safer and is a game changer. Look it up online. Please
