Nighttime Dry Mouth
I'm a 79-year-old female with idiopathic dry mouth that has become progressively worse in the past two years. I go to bed at 11pm and will wake up every hour with dry mouth. When I wake up, I'll use either Act gum, sprays, water, or lozenges. By 5am, my mouth is so dry I have to get up and eat breakfast.
Tests for autoimmune diseases have been negative. Taking Pilocarpine gave me a headache.
Had anyone had success with products that work during the night?

For a stuffy or drippy nose, I use Ipratropium Bromide. Works like a charm! You need a script for it, though.
There is also a very comfortable tape you put on your lips if you need to try something else! I think its meant for snorers.
ksdm,
Yeah, my nose better be clear. I just got some new plug-nostril stretcher thingys. They go on the inside of your nose instead of the outside, like the ones that Jerry Rice made famous in football 🏈
kacey1,
Yeah, sensitive seems to tag along with dry mouth.
Since these drinks are electrolytes, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, sodium, etc... I have not tried this, but I wonder if there is something in pill form, chewable that would help at all. I have no idea, but when my brain gets out of the fog it is in, I will look around. When we give suggestions to each other, we have no way of knowing how the costs will affect us... the Liquid IV, at Costco of course is a huge bag. I ran across it online, that's what made me check the sugar content. Online I was able to buy a trial pack of 4 different flavors. That gives us the option of sugary and flavors with out buying the Costco bag. That is how I learned that green grape flavor was 🤢🤢🤢
I think Gatorade has a "frosted" flavor profile, which really dialed down the intensity of taste.

in reply to @kacey1 Hi, I have dry mouth, have used every product under the sun. At a dental appointment last week, my dentist suggested mixing coconut oil with water, swish it around and spit. It works!!! Coconut oil I am told is very good for your teeth. I am not kidding. It saved my sleep.
Not sure what football is....
For my dry eyes, I've used a Bausch & Lomb product called SootheXP. It has worked well.
in reply to @kacey1 My opthalmologist recommended iVIZIA for dry eye and it works great. Great prices on Amazon so I am told. It really was life changing for me
Would love to try it. Where do you buy coconut oil? Most of the coconut oil on the internet seems to be solid like shortening. The one liquid coconut oil was 25% coconut and 75% safflower.
Yes, I use that during the day. Its okay but doesn’t work through the night for me. I use Systane night time gel, which is pretty good, but I’m not really satisfied with anything I’ve tried.
Restasis didn’t work for me either.
