Liver Cirrhosis: Want to connect with others
Hi Everyone. I'm so sorry to bother you, and I couldn't find a support group here for liver cirrhosis, so I chose the only liver option, which is Liver Cancer. I'm so sorry if I've offended anyone. I have a severe anxiety disorder and also have COPD. I constantly think that because cirrhosis is called terminal, that I might not have long left. It's the uncertainty that's got to me I think, and the mixed messages I get from my specialist. One moment he's telling me I've got less than 5 years to live, then during the same appointment he tells me I can reverse from decompensated to compensated, as long as I stay away from alcohol, eat well, exercise etc. and then he mentioned a patient who lived for well over 20 years with this. The mornings, when I first wake up, are the worst. Thank you so much to anyone who can help. If anyone has a positive story to share with me I would be so grateful.

I too have looked for this topic to no avail I am taking care of my husband who has alcoholic cirrhosis, hepatic encephalopathy , and severe emphysema,he is on a regimen that has completely made a huge difference in 30 days he takes vitamin b complex,30 ml lactulose 2x a day, Toresemide, folic acid, spirinolactone. Breztri for breathing 2x daily , I am exhausted from doing research and the doctors gave him 3 months he goes in next week for bloodwork and endoscopy, after 2 months.I welcome any feedback as this has been beyond my stress level all I do is think about it
first nothing wrong about asking I have cirrhosis and liver cancer your doctors should not tell you about life ending only God knows when we are going to go. Yes it is hard but I have accepted I know God has plans for me I live life to its fullest don't get me wrong I do break down, they offer me a liver transplant but I said no thank you my choice nothing against transplant is just me . I just lost my cat on 9/3/24 what this have to do with my cancer everything animals are angel on earth my fear was going and leaving my cat alone but I ask God to take him now I am heart broken ok back to our well being I try to eat healthy I get every 3 months MRI blood test so far I am stable but I know this cancer is going to win eventually but I fight like hell, and keep positive live is too short I know my next phase on life it is the spiritual form once I leave this body scare sure it is but trying to think is part of life and need to accepted just my opinion praying for you

I'm so sorry for your stress - it must be horrendous. My thiughts and prayers go out to you. Shelley. x
Definitely not bothering people here. Cirrhosis is a concerning diagnosis but you can improve your quality of life with a good diet and excercise. Definitely no alcohol as this destroys liver cells and you don’t need that. You should be monitored for liver cancer or any abnormal blood results. Your provider should do this at least every six months depending on your condition. Do you have signs of decompensated cirrhosis?

It is worthy of a support group dedicated to the condition and we will be opening such a group soon.
@puddy68, getting mixed messages is hard to say the least. Giving up alcohol is certainly better for your health. But that is easier said than done. Are you able to reduce alcohol use?
@bambam39, I can't imagine the stress you are dealing with as a caregiver. What did you learn at your husband's recent appointment?
He is no longer drinking still waiting on labs
You are so right God has his plans
