LC since 09/2020. I am (was) self employed as well. My work hours have gone from (more than! - if you're self employed, you know what I mean) fulltime 2000-2019 with a gradual decrease to approx 4 hours per month 2020-2024. The majority of my work hours since LC has been done from bed using my iPhone and iPad as a makeshift communication and dual monitor system. So, yes, fortunate I didn't have to attempt to maintain an 8-5 in an office. The trade off, though, is equally challenging. No provided insurance, retirement plans, or guaranteed wage...

I am in the process of applying for (attorney-assisted) SSA Disability. My attorney says I've got a good chance. I must, or else she wouldn't have taken me on since they only get paid at the end by a percentage of the backpayment proceeds. I figure it is worth the shot. [DISCLOSURE RECOMMENDATION: Do NOT attempt applying without the use of an attorney. Preferably one who specializes in Disability Claims.] That advice came from someone with experience...

Blessings, rest, and recovery to you!

Hi, I went through Nyman and Turkish. They do that and other claim cases of that type. 4 offices in the US. My legal assistant I work with is fantastic. I send him my Docs weekly to add and he is on the ball to add them right away and give me updates as he gets them. They just sent 4 packets of stuff. 3 to fill out by me and not them. I had 17 pages I filled in (from bed like you for work). Sent them to him so he could fax same day. So far, so good. Note: I too worked for myself combined about 10 years over the last 30. I was heathy them. Hours were long but rewarding. No insurance though, that’s why I went back to W-2 work. Did you pay yourself through a W-2 ? So it reported to SS as well?
