Sudden aging
Hello
I am 53 caught suddenly by multitude of issues and pain that started with all body joint pain one day in age 52.
Still in the process of figuring out (some are still yet to identify thus the treatment) and managing.
It unfortunately is progressing worse and getting harder to manage to a point where I feel I may need to hire help.
I was a single professional thinking I will enjoy working to retirement age then healthy enough to enjoy some do nothing before failed health stops you.
I suppose these are what many go thru. I tried counseling and trying mindfulness but it’s still very hard and wonder sometimes when is good time to stop.
How do you or have you prepare and deal with such?
Thank you in advance.

May I ask if you are on HRT? I ask because the flawed women's health initiative study has been much misunderstanding about hrt's benefits for the bodies of post menopausal women.
@snowmass I responded to your question on osteoporosis. The title of your Discussion is "Sudden Aging". Do you feel like you have suddenly aged with this joint pain? What do your doctors say about the origin of the joint pain and any other medical problems you have?
Tested negative for autoimmune at the time. I was having pain on my neck, shoulder, hip down to foot, all on the right side which later were diagnosed as TOS, some mild degeneration of neck and L5 pars defect fracture with sacroiliac joint fusion. I am also having a lot of pain in c1/c2 area as well (which is causing occipital neuralgia, imbalance and tightness so bad it exhibits tightness/aches on the leg as well which doctors say have nothing to do with the neck, the other mentor, Jennifer, mentioned about the furnicular/referred pain as a possibility but doctor does not agree so I am trying to see another doctor after another… which i am running out of energy for) as thoracic spine area which is very stiff and seems to not budge even with stretching routines…
Asked about bone density at the time of all joint pain, doctor said it was too early. Finally after HRT test returned non-existent estrogen and on HRT, i am scheduled for the test.
Yes i am on estradiol and progesterone. Will start on DHEA and testosterone soon also…after seeing endocrinologist recently.
you might want to try some physical therapy, it can do wonders for aches and pains, neck/back/legs
What about checking out tai chi? Gentle focused movements which help strengthen plus release stress? Deep breathing? Meditation?
At near-81, I am nowhere physically what I was in my twenties; we all lose physically, but mentally we get Better until very late. What I've found is that living a life of purpose that spurs me to be in best-possible shape is all I can do to stave off As Much and As Long what eventually comes our way. I believe If there is a strong Reason to Live (purpose/reason), it can lead us to eat well, be physically active, manage stress, and possibly most important, have a few close friends who energize each other with Mentally stimulating activities. Even Dementia Symptoms do not appear while alive as the brain may show all the markers of Alzheimer's disease, according to the its American Organisation. Seems Nature helps us if we live life the way we are born to, it seems!
Yes, I blame my early symptoms of Dementia to lack of friends that I am seeking out feverishly each day.
Thank you. That’s great that you are well balanced. My challenges are a bit involved with spine and osteoarthritis issues that involves nerve pain and etc.
Your symptoms seem to be approaching epidemic proportions in this country. But we continue as a country to allow spraying of chemicals on our foods that are banned in Europe. And our fast lifestyle has made processed food ubiquitous. It is going to be the challenge of my life but my goal for the coming year is to do the basics. Start walking and cooking as much of my own food as possible. This is easier said than done, but even reaching the highest mountain begins with a single step.
I am about to see what physical therapy will do for my back muscle spasm. I don't hold out much hope, but will give it a try. I can't live with a muscle spasm every 15 seconds.
