Anyone Heard of Pirenzepine for Small Fiber Neuropathy?

Posted by cwallen9 @cwallen9, Jan 28, 2019

I just read articles about a drug called Pirenzepine that is being studied to help heal nerve damage. It is being touted as a cure for small fiber neuropathy. I think it is still in the study phase, but is used for other things such as stomach ulcers.

DMSO is used to assist in the absorption process.

I crush up 150 mg which is about 4%. Mix it with 70% DMSO gel, which is available on Amazon. You don't need a lot of the gel. Just two squirts.Add a couple of drops of water. It dries like water and is not greasy at all.
I've been using the foot and calf application plus I take 25 mg a day. It's been about a week and a half since I started it. Haven't noticed anything yet but wouldn't expect to because nerve damage only reverses 1 mm a day. If I notice anything I promise I will report back.

You say "I crush up 150mg which is about 4%." the 150mg of pirenzepine is 4% of what? The way I read it is you need a 4% solution of pirenzepine in DMSO. To get the proper 4% mixture you need to mix 150 mg of pirenzepine with a specific amount of DMSO, otherwise the 4% ratio is not correct. How much DMSO are you mixing with the 150mg of pirenzepine?

WinSantor is in Stage 2 of trials. Go to there website.
The problem it’s a cream so if your neuropathy has moved into your organs it will not help. Gastroparsis cardiac autonomic neuropathy along with your bladder.
Crushing up the pills is not the approved way of administering this drug but each to their own. They are asking for 700.00 a month.

Hi,
I took half of a 25 mg pill. I got a bit lightheaded and then as the day went on my neuropathy got a lot worse body wide since I have small fiber and dysautonomia.

I haven't taken another one. I had to increase my pain meds. I am on day 2 and it is calming down but still worse. It obviously messes with something. I am trying to see if it would make one worse before getting better. There is some research that implies this.

I found one AI response that a trial somewhere had made a participant much worse with oral doses. It took a week to calm down.

Any insights? Thanks
