I do see infiltrations on my CTs, some cm near the back
in a pneumothorax - fissure. Above that it's air
(lying on the back for CT)
although the 2 Radiologists write "no (significant) pleural effusion"
Healthcare providers find pleural effusions in about 1.5 million people in the United States each year.
Pleural fluid is continuously produced by the parietal circulation in the way of bulk flow, while it is also continuously reabsorbed by the lymphatic system via the stomata in the parietal pleura. In a healthy human, the pleural space contains a small amount of fluid (about 10 to 20 mL),
Maybe treat as a possible allergy first. Flush with NeilMed Sinus Rinse. Then go from there. It works.
@4wdlimo Let me welcome you to Mayo Connect, and try to give you some direction.
We have a support group who have a lung disease called Bronchiectasis, which makes it difficult for our lungs to clear mucus on their own, so we routinely do airway clearance to stay healthy.
Herer is a video about how to do it at home:
If that is not enough, she adds a device called Aerobika, which vibrates the bronchial tubes to help move the mucus. These are available on line.
Do try allergy approach. (I love NeilMed squeeze bottle for sinus issues, but not for my respiratory allergies.) Try a daily OTC allergen pill (I use Allegra in the am, my husband takes Zyrtec at bedtime.) Also nose spays really help - Flonase opens nasal passages, Astepro dries them. Pulmonologist says they can be taken together, 2 - 4 times per day. This has really helped my husband. Give different combos a try until you find what works for you.
I have used the aerobika for many years. Some days it really helps and some only a little. But it helps loosen the yuck to spit it out.
I also use the Aerobika and most days I find it helpful. Simple to use. My pulmonologist recommended it. Ordered mine on-line.
I use my Nebulizer with ACETYLCYSTEINE vials…..10ml every 6 hours.
Anyone else?

I am using a nebulizer with levalbuterol and saline. After that I use the Respirtech vest that inflates and vibrates. That helps a lot. I didn't get much help from the aerobika but this is working great.
