Taking amitriptyline for neuropathy?
Hi, everyone, I take amitriptyline & tramadol for my issues with neuropathy, does anyone have advice on dealing with the side effects?

The alpha Lipoic acid, Acetyl l carnitine, melatonin and magnesium have all helped me and believe you can take them with amitriptyline (I was on this medication a short time). The capsaicin nerve pain cream also helped my feet when they burned. It takes a while for it to work and you want to wash your hands afterwards so you don’t irritate your eyes, etc.
Best wishes to you on getting some relief at night so you can sleep.
god bless us all with reversal.
no problem sleeping

I started on Amitriplyline 25 mg but didn't like the sedation effect when I woke, so I switched to Nortriptyline 10 mg and with very little sedation, much improved, been taking it for a couple years now, works great for me, calms my neuropathy, I sleep better, and have steady energy during the day vs. waking with the sedation while taking Amitriptyline 25 mg. You may want to discuss with your doctor. Good luck!
Thank you for that information.
Does anyone use Amitriptyline 25mg?
I have been on this medication about a year. I take 1 tablet at night. My feet start burning at night. When I take the pill it takes about an hour to kick in. Sometime my feet start burning in the middle of the night.
Has anyone experienced this?

My feet start burning at 2 or 2:30 am. It drives my crazy. I started using magnesium with hemp and that helps. I also wear xx large socks over my feet.
I take 75mg a night. It usually works. If I fall asleep before taking it before bedtime. The next day my neuropathy in my legs hurts 100 worse, and it feels like I go run over by a truck. I have pain all over mu body which I usually don't only in my legs and feet. Then I am low moving and slow reflects for the next 3-4 hours. The worse is the pain in my legs from missing a dose. 100 times worse pain in my legs and feet. For me only burns if I miss a does. When I take it I am pretty good most of the time. I been on this medication about 4-5 years. Most of the time it takes away about 90% of then pain where I can function, if I miss a dose look out my pain is like 100 times worse and it usually takes my like 5 doses to get my pain back to where it was before I missed a dose.
