Accepted to the CSF (cerebrospinal fluid) Clinic: On Waitlist

Posted by deedles7088 @deedles7088, Oct 5 7:30pm

I found out that the I was accepted to the CSF Clinic. They said that the doctor who reviewed my case is "very picky" about the patients he accepts (patients that they know have a problem and they can fix). I was told I was on the waitlist and they would contact me when an appointment became available. Is anyone familiar with the CSF Clinic and how long typically does it take to get an appointment to be seen? Thank you!

@deedles7088, that is great new that we got an appointment at the Cerebrospinal Fluid Dynamics Clinic at Mayo Clinic. You're right. There is a very high demand for appointments at the clinic. You'll be in good hands.

It is hard to know how long it may take to get an appointment. The time to appointment varies from department to department and is based on many different factors. Did the clinic give you a window of time when you can expect a call?

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate it. They did not give me a timeline as far as when I would get a call, just that I am on the waitlist. I'm extremely blessed that they are taking me on as a patient. I have hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel 🙂

Every section's time frame for "wait list" varies. Many depts open future calendars once a month and start scheduling appointments for that future month. Other times there is a cancelation and appointments may open earlier.

Have you created a Portal sign-on? It is very helpful to keep track of appointments.

Thank you for your replay. I have created a Mayo Clinic patient portal. I’m unfamiliar with how to use it since I’m technically not a patient there as of yet. Can I check for any opened appointments on there or is that how they notify me when an open appointment becomes available. Thank you for your input. I appreciate it. 🙂

Unfortunately can not look for open appointments. But they may send you a message to contact them.

You may want to check with them how they will contact you; ask if they will call or send portal message (or both).

In portal, under Account, there is a Notification Setting option. You can set up how your want to be notified, email, text messages, etc...

If you ever have problems with portal or questions how to use, you can contact support team. I submitted question last week, and someone called me the same day.
