For Prostate Cancer what type of oncologist should one see?
Hi, I lost the post where someone told me about a special kind of prostate oncologist. I was wondering if anyone knew the "title" of that type of oncologist. TIA

Genito urinary Oncologist. Where in the country do you live? I know somebody that has a list of those doctors around the country. If you can’t find one can tell me where one is and who it is.
They specialize in prostate cancer, unlike medical oncologist to specialize, just about everything related to cancer and don’t have the time to concentrate on prostate cancer
I live in Connecticut.

Here is the reply I got. If you wanna narrow down your location, I might be able to get you more information.
- CT is a large state. Many peeps in the southwest part are within easy reach of Manhattan placing all of the docs at MSKCC, Weill Cornell and NY Presby in play.
If they are further east, then Dr. John's GU med onc, Daniel P. Petrylak, MD > Urology | Yale School of Medicine.
Thank you. Yale is about 1.5 hours away.
The best referral for a Doctor who is easy to work with is Russell Szmulewitz,
Here are well regarded ones. Had links but they got cut off pasting. You can look them up by referring to their locations.
At U of Chicago Russell Szmulewitz, MD - UChicago Medicine
Or at Northwestern David J VanderWeele : Physician Profile: Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University : Feinberg School of Medicine: Northwestern University
The Rochester Mayo Clinic would be a great place to go. Not sure how far it is from you. They’ve got really great doctors who can handle your case correctly.
If there’s a closer Mayo Clinic, you should investigate going there as well.
