@pedens20, I see that you have recently joined Connect, and I want to extend my welcome. I am so sorry to read that your MOL is now too sick to undergo a liver transplant surgery. This is very painful for me to read because this is the biggest fear that I encountered during my pre transplant period: Will I get transplant in time? Will I be strong enough to proceed to transplant surgery?

After 8 years pre transplant observation, and several months on the UNOS transplant waiting list, I had to be inactivated from the transplant list when bile duct cancer was suspected. I was inactivated until a cancer free diagnosis could be determined. My local team was unsuccessful in getting results. My local transplant doctor told me that they could not do anything for me. That is when they told my husband and me that they wanted a 2nd opinion and wanted to send me to Mayo. They offered us 2 choices: Go to Mayo for a possible treatment, ..or a short time in Hospice Care. Although my outcome was different, Please accept a virtual hug from me because I do know how you are feeling right now. ❤️

@peden20, How is your MOL dealing with this ?

Thanks she’s at peace with it. We all are…I just can’t help but think this isn’t time but we will value what we have and be grateful for any added time.

Always get a second opinion! And Mayo, is a great place to go! Just remember these doctors are just human! And they seem to be more overwhelmed now since Covid. So it depends on what day you catch them on and how much they really wanna work on you or help you. Once again they’re just human.

I’ve had a couple of scars before and it turned out to be nothing. I’m hoping this is going to be the same thing. Just got CT scan back. Need to have doctor reevaluate because it may have been a false reading on the first abdominal ultrasound scan. Plus, I have a second doctor standing by with their opinion.
They call us patients, or I believe, the reason is because we just have to be patient with how the medical field works nowadays!
