Can Gemcitabine/Abraxane (GA) chemo cause delusions?

(Computer issues this morning, so sorry if this was already posted)

My wife is in her off week of her first 3week on / 1 week off GA chemo. It is much tougher than the Folfirinox chemo she had earlier this year. As I earlier reported, she is still barely eating and thanks for all the good advice. Now she says she sometimes has delusions. I asked her oncologist about it, but no response yet. Anybody experience delusions during GA chemo? What did you do about it? Thanks as always to this knowledgeable group.

Oncologist says GA chemo doesn't cause delusions but pain killer Norco does. He is looking for another pain killer. What pain killers have others used?

I'm so sorry about your wife's problems. That must be so hard for her and for you! My neighbor had lung cancer. She did have chemotherapy. I don't know what kind of chemotherapy she had. However, my neighbor did have delusions. She thought they were real and you could not convince her that they weren't real. She was certain that these people she saw in her house were really there. She was ready to call the police about them. I told her to call her son instead which she did. He took her to the doctor who put her in a nursing home for treatment. The treatment didn't work. She still had the delusions and believed they were real.

Perhaps your wife should just stop all treatments for a while and work on eating more. Her body might just be overwhelmed. I had severe migraines years ago and the doctor put me on strong pain medications. They took the pain away and also took my appetite away! That could be happening to your wife.

Prayer works the best. Just give everything up to God! He knows of all of your needs and your wife's needs.

I wish the best for you and your wife. I'll say a prayer for both of you.
