Who else is staying active to have a better nights sleep?

Hi,

Trying to stay active but ankle arthritis has forced me to put a hold on walking and tennis. PT helps a bit as I go 2x each week.

I do try to keep good sleep hygiene. That helps with insomnia, too.

Definitely speak with your doctor.

I get to sleep well, just wake up too soon. I work out with cardio (almost daily) and strength training (3 days per week). Trying to get back sound, sustained sleep.

It's a common problem for aging adults who are highly conscientious. Once we're tired, and we go to bed, we usually fall asleep fairly quickly, but once we awaken four or five hours later, that's often all we can expect because our minds begin to work on something that we know needs doing.

The advice is to rise and to go back if it makes sense and there's still time. I don't. I lie there and work out things, quite alert, until an hour or more later I feel myself relaxing and next thing it's about 90 minutes later and I awaken at the end of a dream (which happens for most after about 80 minutes of sleep, but which can happen much sooner (and more frequently) when sleeping through the night and near the end of the seventh hour or so).
