Good evening @solobeee1, I think this is the first time someone has asked this question about the instep.....at least when I am reading. I am going to assume that you are relating this incident to neuropathy. And if so, I have exactly the same concerns about my insteps. I was diagnosed with SFN ten years ago. However, I have just recently begun to notice my insteps. They are stiff and tight with different levels of pain which I think depends on what kind of shoes I might be wearing.

I also have begun to notice that my MFR therapist is spending more time working on my feet, using her knuckles to try to wake them up from the stiffness. So recently I started a little test for my shoes. The results have indicated that it is very important to have higher insteps in my shoes. My local shoe store helps me and I must admit that Mephisto shoes are rated #1 by me. They are expensive....however, they last for years. And their sandals feel like they are actually attached to the bottom of my feet.

Have you tried inserts? Does it help to wear cushy socks in the winter? Please let me know.
Chris

I accidentally got a few pair of No show socks that have left and right printed on them. They are thicker in important places. I ordered another half dozen.
