PMR long lasting headaches
I've had PMR since July of 2020. Starting about two weeks ago I started having a prolonged headache mostly in the back of my head, along with thee normal aches, pains, and stiffness. Has anyone else experienced this? I've had this going on 10 days now. It never really goes away but the intensity does vary. Thank You, Michael

Do you drink plenty of water?
I had headaches at the onset of my PMR last January. They were odd; if I stood up too fast I would get acute pain at the back of my head. I would grab my neck until it faded. It lasted about 4-6 weeks, and I no longer have these, thank goodness.
October 2023 I had 42 days of headaches. Very unusual for me I was finally referred to a rheumatologist. I was diagnosed with GCA giant cell arthritis which is inflammation of the blood vessels in the head. This is a very serious condition and requires immediate medical attention. I was immediately prescribed 40 mg of prednisone to bring down the inflammation in my head. I also was experiencing polymyalgia, the rheumatologist told me that both conditions go hand in hand.
Untreated, giant cell arteritis can cause blindness, aneurysm, or stroke. Please seek medical attention. I am completely off of prednisone now as of June this year. The headaches went away very quickly after I started prednisone therapy. I remained on the prednisone for eight months because of the polymyalgia.
