had my hysterectomy in 2009 (age 55) with bladder repair with mesh at CU Anschutz Med Ctr in the Aurora-Denver metro area; highly professional women uro-gyns there, in my experience
no problem with the mesh since; use of estradiol cream initially, then switched to Imvexxy suppository for convenience for GUSM
in 2018-19 diagnosed with stage 2 prolapse with cytocele, rectocele, but had to wait til 2021 for surgery, had ovaries and tubes removed then as well as recommended for my advanced age/family Lynch syndrome connection; also at CU uro-gyn practice
in both cases, significantly limited physical activity, especially and specifically not lifting anything over 5 pounds for a minimum of 6 weeks in 2009 and 12 weeks (per dr) in 2021
no problems, and also joined WW and dropped 25 pounds
missed out on MHT all these years due to the poor interpretation of the WHI data
I had my surgeries at U of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus (lived there and worked at the U)
1st surgery at age 55 was hysterectomy and bladder repair with mesh, no complications or problems. started on estradiol creme and was able to get Imvexxy under my benefits plan.
However pelvic organ prolapse stage 2 diagnosed, 10 yrs later. So repair included correction of rectal prolapse (stapled back in place IIRC) cystocele repair and oophorectomy/salpingectomy. they recommended the latter due to being over 65, risk of ovarian CA;
had to wait a couple extra years because of COVID. again, no major difficulties--absolutely didn't lift anything over 5 pounds for 12 weeks post op
I did have some problems with intercourse, so saw a pelvic PT for a course of treatment over a period of 8 or 12 weeks, and have no regrets
