treatment for liver mets

Posted by steveron @steveron, Sep 15 10:33pm

recap: my wife had aborted Whipple 7/22/24 due to SMV involvement. We decided on SMART radiation therapy for 9/6/24, but this had to be cancelled as 9/3/24 PET showed liver mets and very high CA19-9. She started gemcitabine/abraxane chemo last week.

Anybody have success with this chemo, other therapy, clinical trial? Thanks.

Mark, can you give us an update on yourself? I recall you saw some new drs for potential procedures that might open up that blockage. Another recent post said you still had the feeding tube.

One year into pancreatic cancer (Adenocarcinoma at head of pancreas) metastasis to liver cancelled my scheduled Whipple surgery. Given a poor prognosis, I've explored other options since, including histotripsy . I sat down with one of the few oncological surgeons around the country who routinely does this relatively new and non-invasive procedure. According to him, the desired abscopal effects from histotripsy treatment have yet to seen in patients with liver lesions secondary to pancreatic cancer. If anyone knows otherwise, please let us know. Thanks.
