@christine777, I am very sorry to hear about your son's complications. This is surely difficult for you to witness. I received dialysis treatment for around 9 weeks due to acute renal failure related to my liver disease. So I cannot really comment on the dialysis thing because I was dealing with too many liver issues at the time. But I will say that his labs might show elevated and non elevated liver function numbers, and that might account for the varying liver functioning information.
It sounds like your son was in critical need of care due to the internal bleeding. I am familiar with being in similar situation, where the immediate concern is treating most critical medical issue to keep one alive.the keeping patient alive. Then the other issues can be addressed. I encourage you to be in his room when his doctor makes his rounds; speaking to the attending nurse is good, but cannot answer your questions.
Has his nephrologist been consulted? This is where I would start because he/she will know your son's medical history. He/she should also be able to
answer your concerns about the fluid build up and the liver questions. The kidney and liver are both filtering systems for our bodies, and they work closely together.
I hope he is doing better today. Rosemary
Thank you so very much for the information. I have been in the room when the Dr.s make there rounds and when I say something or ask something it's like I'm not there. They are actually going to send him home again today. The bleeding g has been stopped but no other issues dealt with, I just believe this. My son has asked them to please deal with other issues he had another episode again last night with tingling in fingers and lips but nothing they can do. I am at my wits end. He is scared he gets no answers. I received more information from you than we did from them. I thank you so much for that.
Hello @christine777, horribly scary situtation. Makes it worse when it's your child. 🙁
Sounds like he needs a full work up at Mayo clinic. Has he been seen by a Mayo Clinic physician?
I was in the ER 4 times in a week then admitted to my local Hosp 3 times in a week the next 2 weeks for severe high blood pressure. The last time they kept me for 3 days without finding the root cause. The day after I was discharged from the hosp I was at my physical therapy appointment and my blood pressure was 300/208. I loaded up my duffle bag and drove 6 hours to Mayo Clinic. (Don't do that in a crisis, please) I had a mild heart attack while in route.
Point is: the definition of insanity - "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results". I was not doing it again!! Was the best decision for me!!

@christine777 Dawn has given you some great info about contacting Mayo. Thank you, Dawn!
I'll just add that your son can contact the appointment department at Mayo Clinic here http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63. They will review his recent and past medical history, help answer questions about insurance as well as set the appointment. They are really helpful. Would you agree Dawn?
Thank you so much again
Absolutely agree, Nate!! I am 100° confident they will get you right where he needs to be.
Safe travels
Dawn
Thank you so much
