Thrush

Has anyone gotten thrush while on prednisone? My rheumatologist told me I had it. I have finished 1 bottle of nystatin and just refilled my second one. My gums and throat are very sore.

My nystatin was prescribed too. Your method sounds so much better.

Two full days of Nilstat (nyastatin) from the chemist, and only slight improvement so far. The pharmacist said one bottle, 6 days of treatment, should be enough but I pushed for two bottles and got them. The instructions say it should be taken for two days after symptoms are gone, and I knew for sure it wouldn't be gone in four days after reading here about your two bottles besmith57, and knowing that prednisone makes things take longer to treat.

Hopefully I'll report full recovery in about a week. It's one thing after another, over and over again. I wonder what the next thing will be. Thankfully it's Spring here and the garden and mowing is a good distraction.

I hope you have a full recovery too! You are so right about it being one thing after another. This is a terrible disease along with my back pain after surgery I find it all so depressing.

Tongue pain and gum soreness are gone and I'm onto day one of the two days of treatment after symptoms disappear. We sort out and fix these problems one at a time. Thank you for your support and encouragement besmith57.

Next year at this time we will be wrapping up the mowing and garden and heading to Sidney on a trans-Pacific cruise! That will be a good distraction I hope. I have never been to Australia.

Five years ago it was one thing after another with PMR and prednisone. Now it is just one monthly Actemra infusion after another. We can only be gone for a month with 24 days on the cruise. Unless I can get an infusion in Australia it will be a short stay.

I'm glad the thrush seems to be gone!

I hope you have a great vacation! You deserve it! PMR is awful.

Something to look forward to is always good. I'm in a different state to NSW but have visited Sydney and my favourite thing was seeing it by water, taking a ferry round the bay. Your itinerary will be set on the cruise and you will be sure to enjoy whatever is planned. I've no idea how easy or hard it would be to get an Actemra infusion here. Government information refers to it as a new treatment, and I can't find info on where it is available.
