Treatment delayed due to low WBC and platelets

Has any one had round 2 folfirinox delayed for 2nd time due to low WBC and low Platelets ? What can help besides medications like nulesta?

If you are asking all of us, I had a surprisingly good experience with radiation. No pain and the sessions were fast. I did have a little acid reflux afterwards

Hi Marcia,
Weren’t you also taking a drug for your KRASv12? or was it KRASC12? Are you still taking that for cancer in your lungs??

Yes! I’l I’m still taking Lumakras for my mutated genes KRAS and G12C. I’ll find out in November if it’s working.

I had low platelets a year before my pancreatic cancer was diagnosed. I had 29 rounds of Folfirinox. Two treatments were delayed due to low platelets. After the second time my treatment was delayed I starting getting a weekly Nplate shot to boost platelets. That kept my platelets up to where I could get my treatments. After a while we were able to switch to getting the shot ever other week so I did not have to come in on my off week.

I love this!! Dark chocolate, great! I have 2 non-medical things I do to put off my pancreatic cancer: why not? Linseed oil (always refrigerated), just a half tablespoon a day (I only weigh 94 pounds, lost 25 pounds) and propolis honey, just a spoon or so on toast. Hope (more but healthy) chocolate helps my low blood counts too. If not, at least I'll enjoy it.
I admire you who can tolerate chemo; to my oncologist's discontent, I cannot and will not after my first 2 sessions including a pump that went home with me for 2 nights (whatever that was). Radiation on a mass in my mesentery (not sure as a biopsy was deemed too dangerous) was a piece of cake and reduced cancer antigen to 50 from 100. I still feel good and enjoy my life a lot; but I am 84 yrs old and different rules apply.

The new pin point type radiation is wonderful if you have a qualified doctor and a hospital with the latest equipment. After suffering immensely (to the quitting position) with chemo, I sailed through radiation--5 sessions every other day. And the cancer antigen went down to 50 after a short period, still supposed to drop more as radiation takes more time to reveal progress.

After 7 months of chemo which was quite successful, I had 5 sessions of targeted radiation on my primary pancreatic tumour. This was to address my pain issues and allow cutting back on pain meds. This has very very successful and I have been able to dramatically cut back pain meds which has other benefits (eg reduced constipation etc)
