ANA 1:160 - is it an auto immune disease?

Posted by helen1000 @helen1000, Sep 8 9:52pm

I had all the tests for autoimmune disease and this ANA tilter is 1:160. Other than that, all tests are negative. I know 15% healthy people may have this ANA test positive. My doctor wants me to follow up ENA.

I want to know whether anyone has any experience for any auto immune disease with only this ANA test positive?

Thanks a lot,
Helen

@slkanowitz

Helen, typically allergy/immunology are ghe same specialists so one Dr should suffice for both problems .

Thanks @slkanowitz. Yes, I see an article today - Many people got auto immune disease or other disease even cancer in their 40s because of stress from work and taking care of parents, I am not the only case. But it is not a regret for sure!

I can relate to the stress these factors bring. It appears I’m ok overall with this though. It’s a big relief.

Yes Celia16 it is okay. I am not a person who regret a lot. I hope my experience can pass to my daughter so she is more health consciousness.

I don't really like it when cancer etc. is blamed on lifestyle factors including stress. It might be true but it veers into victim blaming in some cases. The worst is when there is an emphasis on a "positive attitude" to increase health. I know a woman who is 105 who has the most negative attitude and always has. Cancer and other ailments have complicate causes, most out of our control. Genes and our toxic environment for example.

Well, there is always exceptions. 🙂 We look at statistics.

What statistics? Can you share and cite them?

Generally long-lived people hold a positive attitude and healthy life style.
The cause of cancer is multiple factors. environment factors like chemicals and radiation, smoking all contribute. but chronic stress can lead to unhealthy life style, anxiety and heart problems. It can also promote the spread of cancer cells.

ENA tests results come back, six panels, all negative. So I don't have auto immune disease.
