Skin insect bites and carr in Florida

Posted by sueborfl @sueborfl, Sep 10 1:32am

Just within the past four weeks I have been BITTEN on lower legs at night. I’ve changed sheets and all linens and disinfected mattress.
The scarring from the bite is significant. The itching required some OTC Treatment. I’m left with three to four 2 inch wide diameter red marks on lower legs. We are in Florida and because of my chronic case of Lyme disease….I stay away from all grasses and shrubs. More scars to contend with in addition to the poor dermatology practices here where I had some skin cancer areas taken care of. It’s a state that as my Lyme specialist called “underserved” and the 15 minute visit time given to a patient is not sufficient to determine root causes.

Hi @sueborfl. You have a little mystery bugging you that’s just itching to be solved. 😉 Sorry, couldn’t resist.
Sounds like you’ve already checked for bed bugs. Does your partner sleep in the same bed and no bites?
I know you’re cautious about grasses and shrubs. But do you sit out on your patio in the evening? Do you think it could possibly be flea bites? They itch like the dickens and skin can get quite irritated around the bites.

@sueborfl

A photo of the bites might be helpful.

That was cute…pun on top of pun.
I called my dermatologist today and absolutely no call back. I’m always appalled at our medical system either in NY or here. I’m leaving for Rhinebeck NY in about 2 days for my chronic Lyme disease check. The bites will be evident.
—God bless him, but I do not share a bed with hubby. Snoring took care of that years ago.
I’ve not had any further bites and yes a photo might be helpful. I’ll try. I have insomnia due to Lyme and I’d have to turn multiple lights on to get a decent pic. The morning hrs will be best even tho it’s past 5 am now. Thx for your interest and tell me if you think you might be of any help and in what capacity???
