ANA 1:160 - is it an auto immune disease?

Posted by helen1000 @helen1000, Sep 8 9:52pm

I had all the tests for autoimmune disease and this ANA tilter is 1:160. Other than that, all tests are negative. I know 15% healthy people may have this ANA test positive. My doctor wants me to follow up ENA.

I want to know whether anyone has any experience for any auto immune disease with only this ANA test positive?

Thanks a lot,
Helen

God bless you! I tested B12 deficiency, normal, and my glucose level is always 90. My family has no auto immune disease history. But I do agree covid-19 booster may give me a blow. I probably got something from it. I felt really weak for a few weeks and lost my period after the second booster shot. But my period came back after a while. I wish I never had that shot!

I had one booster put me in bed, but no lingering symptoms until after my mild bout of covid. I still have symptoms that I can’t seem to shake, but have run out of options. I’ll continue mega dosing my B12, focusing on high nutrition, fitness, exercise, good BS management, etc. Returning to neurologist in 4 months.

I think I had an ENA. Will have to check. ………Yes, I had the ENA series and was .2 across the board! I’m very pleased with that.

I hope your ENA is in normal range! My friend has autoimmune disease and she got pain all over the body after booster shot.

All my symptoms is fatigue.

If I want to test food sensitivities or food intolerance, shall I see an immunologist or an allergist ? heard both can trigger immune system response.

I had milk and wheat intolerance and they constantly caused diarrhea. Digestive health is closely related to respiratory health.

I’m not sure about which specialist to see. I am tempted to see allergist due to my itching and constant watery nose. I saw one last year for a Penicillin challenge. Had been allergic as a child, so always thought I retained that allergy, but I outgrew it! No longer allergic and had it removed from all my allergy charts. It’s good to know I can use that antibiotic, if needed.

Is fatigue and food allergies your main issues?

Yes fatigue and underweight. I don't have any allergies. I only have wheat and milk intolerance. I feel you guys are so knowledgeable!! I am so happy that you got this allergy grow out, you must do something so right!

I had no idea the penicillin allergy had gone, but the doctor said it happens quite a bit, only adults don’t get tested and discover it. Glad I did.

Have you had a full panel of labs to check things like sodium and potassium? Have youn had hormone levels checked by endocrinologist?

Also, have you consulted with a nutritionist to review your diet to ensure it’s adequate in order to support good weight and maintain energy? I suppose they checked your iron levels?

How is your sleep? Sleep disorders can cause exhaustion during the day.

Low titers are not uncommon and they are usually benign.
Healthy lifestyle.
Mediterranean diet.
Sunscreen regularly.
Good sleep hygiene.
A good routine to avoid stress.
Regular exercise.
Vaccines as advised.
Good doctors and insured access to care.
If everyone could do these things there would be less disease and autoimmunity.

Easily said than follow.
Food - pesticides
Vaccines - side effects
Medication - side effects
Suncreams - full of bad chemicals

Yes @sharka, we do not have enough knowledge to take care of our health. By the age 44, some diseases already formed and hit us. Then 60 is another age for health to decline.
We must be very careful careful and careful since young.
Actually when we were born, something has decided.
My sister never got sick by age of 44, and I was in and out of hospital by 3 year old.
I hope modern technology like stem cell therapy can bring some hope to us!

Dear, you must maintain a very good self care. When our body gets stronger, some allergy will be off. Like kid, when they get into teenager stage, their allergy may outgrow. Keep doing that and you will be better and better. To high maintenance people like us, we have no choices.

I have a hormone test kit by my functional doctor but i have not tried it yet. I will definitely do it and see an immunologist after a few months.

I have balanced and good amount of diet and very good sleep. I tried my best to take care of myself . It really helps but my mother got cancer in her 70s so I worked so hard to take care of everything including a full time job, cooking and my kid for several years. There was a lot of stress in the past four years. Those factors all contribute.

Helen, typically allergy/immunology are ghe same specialists so one Dr should suffice for both problems .
