Kahler Grand Hotel: Any updated info about improvements?

Posted by donnaj50 @donnaj50, Sep 4 10:35am

Has anyone stayed at the Kahler Grand Hotel recently? I can only find older comments. Seems like in the past they've had problems but I'm told that they've improved. Would like to stay there because it's so convenient.

Thanks to all. We have decided to stay at the Kahler Grand, thanks to your responses. Just can't beat the location just steps away from the Mayo Building.
I'll let you know how we like it!

We just stayed there in August. It's dated, no question. But you can't beat the location. It's connected to the clinic through an underground walkway called the subway. We had the jr suite, included a fridge, coffee maker and microwave. The bathroom was very dated, didn't really matter. It was clean and comfortable. Dunkin is right around the back side and Ruths Chris steakhouse is off the lobby. There is a parking garage, connected to the 2nd floor hallways.

Hello @sheltered0926,
Welcome to Mayo Connect! Thank you for your input on this topic. It is so helpful to get another person's opinion when it comes to making housing decisions when you don't live there.
Your input helped another member make their choice, so thank you.
Were you staying at the Kahler Grand as a Mayo patient? I assume that like most hotels in Rochester, they have a Mayo Clinic discount?

Back to my original question! Would like to stay at the Kahler Grand because it is the closest to the Mayo Building where I have my appointment. Has anyone stayed there?

I first stayed at the Kahler Grand in Dec 2021. I stay there 2-4 times a year when I have early morning appointments. It is very handy for the Gonda building but I, like the other person here, would only give it a 5 out of 10 despite so called renovations.

I’ve stayed at the Kahler Grand and can’t disagree with comments. I have stayed several other places as well. First of all, The #1 thing the Kahler has going for it is location. There have been visits I have that have made this my absolute priority. It’s been awesome in the winter. I was there an extended time going back and forth from Mayo for regular appointments and back to my hotel room to work remotely twice daily. It was a great place for me to start and get the lay of the land so to speak. If your priority is convenient location it’s a winner. I will say there are remodeled rooms and those that have not been. I absolutely recommend asking for a remodeled room since there’s such a difference.
