Pre scan drops for cataract surgery
A doctor has asked me to use cortico-steroid drops 4 times a day for a week before having a scan pre cataract surgery the following month - I thought only moisturisors were used at this point. Has anyone come across this?

I have not heard of this, but I am not a medical professional.
I used no drops prior to any of the refraction and medical assessment prior to surgery. My surgeon injected an NSAID and antibiotic during surgery so I did not need any anti-swelling of anti-infection drops after surgery.
I had LAL IOLs implanted in both eyes, almost through the lens adjustment process and have distance 20/15 in my dominant eye with good mid range, and good mid, long and near in my monovision near eye with J1+.
No but if he examined you and then did RX there must have been a reason.
I’ve had cataract surgery.
Yes, I had a comprehensive regimen of eye drops prior to and after surgery, I had a great outcome- I was legally blind before surgery and after only needed drug store readers.
Which specific drops and I guess the big question is why? And this is before they would do the refractive work up for the surgery?
I'm confused, you first say you had LAL IOLs in both eyes, and then mentioned monovision, could you please clarify? Is the LAL a monovision lens, I thought it was multi-focal.....but maybe not.
There are two RxSight products, LAL (monovision) and LAL+ (has a multifocal-like dot in the middle to enhance EDOF).
Either can be adjusted for whatever vision one wants - within design and within one's biological factors. ie to be the same distance, or near - or, for monovision. LAL+ was intended to be a panacea, but it has not been a perfect solution, especially for distance. Some surgeons like LAL for the dominant eye, and LAL+ for the non-dominant eye when targeting mono/blended vision.
My corneal curvature was too high for LAL+, so I received LAL in both eyes.
I am still in the adjustment phase - my dominant eye is adjusted for distance and is now plano with 0.25 cylinder - seeing 20/15 and J5-7 now, and my non-dominant is adjusted for near and is -2.00 and 1.00 cylinder (we will be adjusting the cylinder/astigmatism lower) - seeing 20/30 or 20/40 and J1 now.
