Is hrt a good option after Evenity
I am a 76 year old woman. Menopausal at 38. Took some hrt 20 years ago. I am going to begin estrogen and testosterone pellets with a functional medicine provider. There may already be a discussion site for:
Discussion of the Women's health initiative study and what we are learning.
Fear of hrt linked with this flawed study
Can robust hrt act in place of prolia post Evenity.

thank you all for sharing your experiences and insights. I am currently on the prowl for hormone doctor. I am 67, live in San Diego and was done with menopause before I knew I started at age 47. Took bioidenticals until 58. Transdermal. I tapered off naturally. Now I am interested in going back to regain stamina and muscles. Just nothing happens at PT when I try to build muscle. And the fascia sticks together. So far, no one has been supportive at UCSD so I will look outside. I am not so interested in the pellets for the reason @teb described above. When I used the transdermal I had total control and liked that. It also seems a lot less expensive. I also thought it would help support bones. I did one round reclast (with HORRID reaction) and one Tymlos for 5 months now and have great results! Thank you for sharing!
Someone mentioned Alloy Health. I filled out the online forms but before I paid for what I thought was supposed to be a free consult - I saw no mention of progesterone or testosterone there with the gel. (I wanted pump they seemed to only offer individual packages....) anyone know if there are options? thanks!
@loriesco If you're willing to make the drive, Dr Felice Gersh is located in Irvine. She does telehealth but requires the first visit be in person. People fly in for all over the world for that first visit. She's super expensive but I try to use her minimally to just get my dosing right and have my questions answered. I then have my regular gynecologist do my physical exams and place prescriptions and refills to keep my overall costs down. I found her to be extremely knowledgeable, not just about hormones but about holistic health. Here's her website in case it might work for you.

Thanks
I have been on hrt for 20 years…bioidentical creams. I now started the pellet therapy. I am 67 and have never felt better. I question big pharma and of course $ for delaying any positive evidence about Hrt. We are close. I have heard positive things in the news about using hormone replacement therapy. I asked my integrative medicine doctor when is a time to stop and he said when you die. His mother used the bio identical hormones until she was way into her 90s. I am hoping my next scan shows a big improvement. My numbers aren’t that bad but I do feel that’s because of the bioidentical creams, weight lifting, Pilates, supplements, cutting way back on alcohol, diet sodas etc. Again, I am not an expert I am only expressing my experience. Always do your homework…check and recheck…never stop reading. We are in charge of our bodies.
Thank you so much. Great to get this from other women. Very grateful.
Someone posted they had taken HRt during their year of Evenity. I’m wondering since estrogen is supposed to be protective against cardiovascular issues if in fact this might be a great idea because Evenity’s possible side effects are cardiovascular. I’m considering doing both. Thoughts?
thank you! No, Irvine is not too far! Thanks for the recommendation! Lori
this is something you will need to discuss with your Endocrinologist or hormone specialists. It is not as simple as you are thinking. Your personal history (and that of your DNA ancestors) also is a factor. There are risks with any estrogen-type product - and your personal chemistry. For example are you positive for the BRAC 1/2 gene? Have you been tested? Does your mother, her sisters and grandmothers had cancer? Do you need a combo therapy with progesterone/testosterone. How long has it been since you last period? All these things -- plus the TYPE of HRT will be a factor and none of us can answer that sufficiently for your needs.
P.S. I got an appt. with a local Dr. who came highly recommended from the local compounding pharmacy today! Dr. Kim Kelly in Encinitas. Got all my records and I'm ready to go!
