Leftover Arikayce
My doctor wants me to stop Arikayce. Unfortunately I had just received a 28 day shipment. I hate to waste it. Does anyone know what can be done with the rest of it?

@gbooth54 This is a tale we hear so often - and it seems such a waste. Leftover prescription meds, even unopened, cannot be given away or repurposed for safety reasons. I suggest you store it until the expiration date in case the doctor decides to restart it.

1 ReactionYou can donate it if you want to! Here is an article about how to do it:

Some cities have local dropoffs. I ended up sending an unopened inhaler to a program somewhere in the Midwest, I forget which program. This was when my PCP was trialing different inhalers & meds to rule out asthma and I realized how outrageous the retail price would be for anyone uninsured.
It has to be carefully documented and sealed of course.
Good luck. This is such a horrible waste.
Unfortunately, Arikayce does not qualify because it requires refrigeration. We experienced the same issue with unopened insulin.
