Does anyone get side effects from Stelara?

Posted by christa37 @christa37, Sep 2 4:37pm

I’ve been on Stelara for Crohns since March. I also have fibromyalgia, but I’ve been having extra skeletal/joint pain and crazy skin stuff. I’m wondering if it’s the Stelara or something else.

How long have you had Crohn’s and fibromyalgia. Are the treatments helping?

Oh thank you for the info! I have had fibro for about 8 years and just diagnosed with Crohns last year. I have tried lots of meds (e.g. Horizant, low dose Naltrexone) for the fibro, but for me, the side effects get to be too much. I have found some success with that Curable app. For the Crohns, I feel like the Stelara is helping the GI stuff. I just don’t know if these other things are side effects or not. I do another injection on Wednesday, so I’m going to see if things flare again.

Crohns disease affects more than just the GI tract. It’s often accompanied by joint pain and other manifestations of autoimmune disease. In addition, there’s a possibility that another autoimmune disorder is occurring. I hope you are under the care of a good rheumatologist, who would be helpful in assessing and treating your other symptoms. It’s unlikely the Stellara is causing these symptoms as Stellara is used to treat AI disorders that cause joint pain. It’s hard to sort these issues out and keeping a diary or timeline of symptoms and medication doses can help get to the bottom of it.
