cataract surgery and having bronchiectasis/MAC

Posted by hauoli @halford, Sep 3 7:06pm

Im about to have my first cataract surgery to my left eye. I am concerned about the coughing I do when expelling mucus after I exercise, postural drainage and nebulizing with 7% sodium chloride.
Has anyone gone through cataract surgery? Hal

I just had surgery on both eyes on July 8th and the 15th. My ophthalmologist knew about my BE/MAC and my coughing. I had no problems throughout both surgeries. I reminded all the staff on those days of surgery and here I am able to see again! (I did not do airway clearance on those days before the surgery, which is about 20 minutes but did so afterwards). Best wishes!

thank you for your reply. You have given me the confidence to go ahead and have my cataracts done in the middle of this month. We all try so hard to live with Bronchiectasis MAC as best we can. Thank you. Hal
