Diagnosed with RA last year. Hip pain makes walking hard

I have RA. And while on prednisone I was pretty good. Then was put on methotrexate and eventually tapered off the prednisone. Now I have been off prednisone and only on methotrexate and folic acid for three weeks. Yesterday woke up with such pain in one hip and couldn’t walk. It’s back again today.

@jlz

I guess I meant to ask the question.. should I go back on prednisone to get over this hump?
Also my dr is not sure if I have PMR or RA.

Hi, I had severe hip pain shortly before I was diagnosed with RA. The dr said I had well tolerated hip dysplasia, and that I was bone on bone in one hip. The only relief that worked was hip replacements.

I’m so very sorry that you’re in so much pain. Methotrexate DID NOT WORK FOR ME FOR A MINUTE! There are so many good medications out there and it’s ridiculous for you to be in this much pain. Please call your doctor and get in to see him ASAP. MY RHEUMATOLOGIST is so good that I have his cell phone. Of course I have been his patient for years and he knows I would never abuse it and it I send a message it’s because I’m suffering. I have been on some great meds and the manufacture pays for it so don’t worry. God bless you. Never hesitate to write to be here or send me a private message. Diane.

Each person is different so get in to see your doctor. If he doesn’t help you fast start looking for a new Rheumatologist. Prayers work!!
