Hello. I have a dark circle in the middle of my vision but ONLY in very low light. Is this of concern, or only typical of aging?

Most doctors recommend that their AMD patients take some form of AREDS supplements, like Preservision, to “slow the progression” of macular degeneration.

Personally, I don’t believe the hype and I don’t believe they work. But everyone has to decide for themselves. Other than that, I haven’t had any doctor tell me anything to “improve” AMD. Other than AREDS, the most they offer is “there is no cure or treatment, wear sunglasses to protect eyes” and if you progress from dry AMD to wet, they have injections for that.

Also, there is a very informative thread on this site about the side effects and effectiveness of AREDS. I recommend you read all of it to help you make your decision about taking it.

My eye doctor suggested Macuhealth eye supplements about 4 years ago. 90 soft gels for 75 dollars. Dosage one a day. I take them religiously. My doctor takes a photo each year of my eyeball. Two macular spots have disappeared and the others have not progressed. Well worth a try. Macuhealth.com through the mail.

Does anyone else just take one of the Preservision instead of 2 a day? My body always has a reaction to meds and vitamins.

Here’s a link to a long thread about the side effects some of have experienced from taking AREDS. There’s a lot of good info. https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/areds/

Is this same as macular hole in eye. Dr is monitoring right now and will probably need surgery.
Anyone had experience with this condition. Any suggestions comments are wey
