Recovering from evening excitement

Does anyone know how to recover from an evening football or basketball game, or concert where you listened to loud sounds and maybe were exposed to bright lights? Although I am calm during these events, I cannot get to sleep afterward. Most of the time, I do have a bedtime routine that works. But I do have a life, too. Xanax works but I hate being on a controlled substance where your body tolerates it and you need more over time for it to keep working.

Welcome @judybradford, I don't have that problem much anymore but I did when I was younger. I did run across some great suggestions in the article below but I'm thinking two minutes is a maybe.

Do you drink a lot of caffeine or alcohol when you are at the events? Just wondering if that could be part of the problem falling asleep.

I use Yoga Nidra to help me most nights. There are several good ones to follow on YouTube.
