Gabapentin and Cymbalta side effects

Posted by mike1941 @mike1941, Aug 4 11:34am

Has anyone experienced loss of appetite, depression, anxiety, dementia, increased pain and swelling in the lower abdominal area plus bloating when levels of Gabapentin- Cymbalta were increased to mitigate intercostal nerve and muscle damage. Thank you.

So sorry to hear that. As I said, I don't know where my pain is coming from.

Gabapentin seems to be my culprit not Cymbalta, relating to the bloating- tightness in my abdomen area and weird dreams not the Cymbalta.
Best wishes

While taking Cymbalta I had urinary retention. Chronic bladder infection due to having to self cath . I had to take so many antibiotics because of the bladder infections. I can no longer take any antibiotics. My opinion is to STOP taking the Cymbalta. I also take Gabapentin it makes me tired so I take it before I go to bed.

Dr. Getson is my hero!!!!
I did everything he suggested in those U-tube videos and I got my life back. I lived in hell for 20 years of hell because NO doctor in Minnesota knows a damn think about CRPS. If he still was practicing doctor in a clinic I would go see him.

What is CRPS ? I don't know what is causing my severe cramping in my legs and whole body spasms.

Hope I'm writing in the right space! I just looked at my first You Tube of Dr. Getson, and I'm laughing and weeping some at pure recognition. I've heard of CRPS, all the letters, figured I have some or all of it.
But he is indeed a rock star. He has done his work, and he's doing,, doing, doing his work! I plan on binging his videos and hopefully getting down to specifics.
My story next time, but it has led to chronic hyperalgesia which affects everything I do and feel. I'm 81 years of age, and I am an actor, an active woman working to my delight and with a main mission to not fall. But constant hyperalgesia means I'm fearful of my balance, always. And I depend on a walker due to severe spinal stenosis, the main culprit of it all. Non -painful, the spine. A good thing I suppose.
There's so much more. I'd like to get the hell off the pregabslin, which plays nasty games with my memory.
Enough for now. Thank you profoundly Kate, and as they say, I'll be back.

Be careful. Do not stop Cymbalta and gabapentin abruptly. Both of these need to be slowly tapered, especially the Cymbalta. You can become terribly sick if you stop suddenly. Work with your doctor to taper.

Hey Kate
Sorry about the drug side effects.
78 on gabapentine 7 years helps nerve pain and migraines.
I’m ok with it some fatigue.
Spinal stenosis: just had a hemilamenotomy 5 weeks ago. Walked 4 mile the 4th day and off pain killer 3rd day and on 6 day steroid pack. A piece of cake.
I had trouble walking sciatica and neurological claudation pain and falls.
Only use a neurosurgeon and only have the hemi lamenectomy or lamenotomy same thing , minimally invasive heal and recover quickly. Don’t use an orthopedic surgeon they require full lamenectomy ouch and fusion = rods and screws ouch ouch and 6-12 month recovery. Crazy.
Good luck Tony

Try to find a functional medicine clinic. These practitioners check your blood to make sure your body is working right. The way doctors use to do. The one I go to will talk to you for an hour before they determine what labs to order. Then when the results come back they tell you what supplements you should take. My results showed I had NO hormones, my adrenal glands (they regulate the chemicals in your brain) had shut down, ext...
Until then make sure you are drinking a lot of water, magnesium supplement will help. Good luck! I can get leg cramps and they are awful.
