@devinsmom Has the gastroenterologist suggested that a fundoplication procedure would benefit you? Your gastro MD should be able to refer you to a good surgeon if he believes that the surgery would be beneficial. Make an appointment with the doctor (not the nurse) and have a frank discussion.
