Hi, my surgery took about 5 hours as they had to remove scar tissue, mesh that was stuck to my liver, and staples from a surgery I had about 20 years ago. I did very well and came home with very little pain. I started the blenderized diet and have done very well with it. I still drink 2 or 3 protein shakes a day. I have been able to meet my 80 grams of protein everyday besides the 64 oz of water also. I have lost about 8 pounds since the day of my surgery, a total of 38.6 pounds as of today, Thursday. I haven't been doing any of my exercises yet that I was doing before the surgery. I do walk as much as I can throughout my apartment and outside. I have a heel spur that needs attention when I can have it taken care of so I will be able to go for longer walks. I manage to get close to over 2000 steps in. I am very happy I had the Roux NY, as I am no longer on long acting insulin and only on a sliding scale with my fast acting. Most times I don't have to give myself shots at all. Now to work at getting off my other meds! Happy days!

Wonderful Joysmiley64 that you are doing so well! I am almost finished my 8 change classes & probably won’t have the RNY until late Feb or March. I have 2 large hernias that & I, too, have lots of scar tissue. Had bowel obstruction surgery some years ago & ever since hospitalized what seems like every 6 months for another obstruction, so. I expect my surgery might be a bit longer than usual.
God is the Great physician & He has instilled such wisdom & skills in Mayo surgeons & all who help us get ready for this lifelong journey! Keep going, you are doing great!
