How high has anyone seen Lambda free light chain go with Mgus?

Posted by sammiemuss @sammiemuss, Aug 27 2:11pm

Going in Sept 3 for Bone marrow test .. symptom free but with accidentally finding of
Lambda free light chain serum test 1200.6 with Kappa 23.7 with ratio 0.02.. Mspike showed in 1 test out of 2.Pet scan with small nodule on lower lung with 5.1 uptake.
Plan 3 months lung CT.
Could this still be MGUS? Thx

It could be many things including a mistake at 1200.6.

I believe everyone needs both the medic team and to look after themselves but this is one area where you should rely on your medical team,- which also means you can still be an open minded skeptic.

@sammiemuss
I echo the counsel of @singularity. I also want to encourage you to call your hematologist or schedule a telehealth appointment at least to speak with him or her about the lab results.
My chart is innovative, and in many ways, a spectacular resource for patients, but on the downside… To receive lab results that are outside the normal range with no explanation is so anxiety provoking! I hope you can get some explanation soon. In the meantime, try to keep your anxiety at bay.
Hugs!

Many Drs will repeat a lab test that comes back abnormal just to be sure. You mentioned an M spike in one of 2 tests, but were the light chains repeated? That may be prudent, and I would ask your doctor about it.

In the first test only the immunoglobulins were checked and it showed MSpike noted in lambda free light chain but no values was given.. That Doctor then sent me to an Oncologist /Hem who ordered a more complete test.. but that’s where it said MSpike not observed.. I don’t know if that meant to wasn’t there or they just didn’t observe it?
I’m feeling better now post Covid and very anxious for Bone Biopsy.
Also I should note I had ITP has a child and had a Splenectomy maybe it still related to Lambda now?
Thx for your input..

I too have MGUS and have intermittent M spikes on labs. Mine is lambda FLC also. MGUS seems to occur more often in people with autoimmune conditions, like ITP and lupus, RA etc. I hope your BM bx is encouraging and all you need is monitoring. I have learned to put mine on the back burner mentally and I hope you can eventually as well.
