Grid/Net shaped rash
My boyfriend gets these net-shaped patches on his back once in a while, according to his mom it's been happening since he was a teen. What is it? It doesn't hurt or itch. He takes a medication called Modecate.

Hi @rxrie, You’re one of a small, but growing number of people from all over the world who have reported this crazy rash, unexplained rash. At some point maybe there will be enough of you reporting this and a common denominator will be found. Until then, I’m glad you found the group and posted photos.
My 12yr old has this random rash . Appeared yesterday. Like little bruises but very patterned. Honeycomb pattern. He did not get hurt or lay on anything. No symptoms of illness. From my google search it’s called red grid phenomenon. wondering if it could be parasitic?
The red grid pattern is an unsolved eruption from contact with a unknown
object or compound. It fortunately is not parasitic. It may occur days after
the contact so hard to figure out what caused it.
I made an account for this. I've also had this weird grid pattern on my left hand. It always shows up randomly, is always in the exact same spot, and doesn't hurt, itch, or feel numb at all. Just to get this out of the way, I live in Southeast Asia, so Puss Caterpillars are not the cause. No, there are no Puss Caterpillars in my country, nor are there any other caterpillars that could cause a rash like this.
I thought they were just imprints at first too, seeing that my chair has a very similar pattern, but about a week before the posting of this comment, the pattern showed up when I was nowhere near my chair. That's when I started paying attention to it. It lasted about 2 days, slowly fading away, until a couple of hours ago, when it showed up again.
The lack of any cause or reasoning even after almost 4 years is really piquing my curiosity about the cause, even if it doesn't seem like an issue.
I noticed a patch of honeycomb patterned dots on the underside of one of my butt cheeks some time in the past couple of days. Wasn't raised and wasn't accompanied by any itchiness or pain. Because of this lack of discomfort and the seemingly artificial uniformity of the pattern I didn't pay it any mind and wrote it off thinking I must have sat on something with a similar pattern (despite it being only on one side of my butt and not being able to remember any chair or pillow that would have accounted for this pattern). Today I noticed it was still there and just as visible as before. If the source was some form of indentation like I thought, I would have expected it to disappear by now. This is how I stumbled upon this thread. Never heard of this phenomenon previously.
Wanted to include a picture but can't seem to figure out how to embed it in my comment. It looks almost identical to some posted by others in this thread.
I'm 25 female and live in an Australian city. It is currently winter and rather chilly here. I don't take any medication, only birth control. Have also had a few different doses of antibiotics this year for flus, a chest infection and the likes. Can't imagine it's related to that but I'm also completely baffled by this. Otherwise haven't had any notable changes in my lifestyle, diet, products or such.
I guess I have been experiencing slightly elevated levels of anxiety due to an upcoming trip.
Hoping eventually some correlation is revealed between all the cases and a logical explanation is discovered.
My son who is almost 13, got this on his chin. It doesn't disappear when touched, it is gridlike with perfectly round dots few days before he had a bad cough for a night and then had a stiff neck and back. He is on prophylactic antibiotics. Cefdinir for an autoimmune disorder ( activated by immunological conditions and strep throat). We live in California.
Maybe it would be helpful if people could list any medication they are on or even any supplements. In addition to the antibiotic, my son takes CoQ10, NAC, a multivitamin and Florastor. He is going on his second day.
I have this same condition that appears sporadically on my back. It doesn’t itch or hurt at all and looks like blood was drawn to the surface by a suction cup. The “rash” usually appears in a well defined diamond shaped grid on my back but once appeared on the left side of my face. I’ve been trying to find answers about this for years.
Same thing here
Not sure how to navigate this forum or post pictures but had the same thing happen to me a few months ago. I had a crazy dream which ended abruptly with a really bad pain I felt in my chest and body. Thought I was going to die. About two days later my son noticed this same grid pattern along my entire spine. Not painful or raised or itchy Glad to know I'm not the only one. They cleared up within a week.
