What size was the lesion when he ordered a pet scan? My Dr said it was too small to show anything on a pet scan. Which makes sense, he measured it at 6mm, but the radiologist read it “spiculated .9cm “ I realize that is still small but the pulmonologist report didn’t mention “spiculated”. I believe like you , “I’ve heard too many people I know who have dealt with cancer , say “they want to keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn’t grow”. Only to be told later “we can’t do anything” thank you for your advice. Hope you are doing well.

The radiologist actually was the one that made the recommendation, however mine was a "solid 11mm nodule." He rec: PET scan then follow-up with CT Scan in three months until stable. To me, there is nothing to lose by doing a PET. However, I have been in the Medical Arena for >40 years and have seen enough to feel that caution is the better part of valor. One of my physicians missed a diagnosis of a parathyroid tumor for 5 years with hallmark signs & symptoms which reeked havoc.....paid for it with severe osteoporosis! So yes, I am overly cautious and question everything and do my own research. And still seem to maintain a good working rapport with my physicians.
