Several people mention Miralax. This is polyethylene glycol, the safest laxative out their. Long Covid just stopped the peristalsis in my gut ! Just had to accept that and take polyethylene glycol every other day. I take lots of vitamin supplements so if I am losing any nutrients from this by chance I’m not in any way malnourished. Probiotics every day seem to help bloating.
Had same thing tested negative 32 days ago and have beenconstipated 3 times since. Saw Gastro Dr who recommended Benefiber once before breakfast and once before dinner. It’s working and you can add 2 teaspoons into any drink hot or cold and stir for a full minute. There’s no taste to it and it works
Linzess is the only drug currently on the market that helps many people but has side effects for many as well. Renexxion has another drug in late stages in similar class and will not have the side effects. But still a year or two away from being available. So a better alternative is coming soon!
It wasn't really a problem after my initial infection in November 2022. I either caught it again or had a major relapse in May 2-24 and since then it's been absolutely awful. I was taking Senna but I saw the MD from the post covid clinic for the first time last week and he recommended Miralax. So far so good, but I wonder if I'm actually absorbing any of the food I eat. My gut and appetite are not very good now.
I did not have any issues with 1st 2 times (work in a school) but got again Jan24 and starting in Feb 24 my life has been destroyed. Drs. do not take me seriously has every test and more and they finally said see a psychiatrist!

Sorry to hear. I’m having that issue now for past two mos. Dr recommended Benefiber twice a day. Once before breakfast and before dinner. It has helped a lot give it a try.
The above, all good tips for sluggish bowel. After Covid, none of it works for me. I struggle mightily now to move my bowel at all without laxative, which I never used before Covid, not wanting to strip my bowel of good biome. I find it’s a whole new ballgame getting relief after Covid. I use laxatives, enemas, and suppositories, and still feel my bowel never completely evacuates. Also as suggested, I walk, eat well, drink plenty of water, and try, try, try, to keep things moving.
It’s just one more way Covid has wrecked me.

Constipation is a symptom of long covid my Gastro Dr told me to use Benefiber 2x a day before breakfast and dinner and definitely works

Constipation can also be a symptom of hypothyroidism, and Covid can cause hypothyroidism by causing Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (https://www.palomahealth.com/learn/covid-trigger-hashimotos?srsltid=AfmBOopF2zJ-5pfkgYPfDePA4F6bYRpeoWUu_bFbt4sjNNvKK7g4L_e-). I would recommend getting your thyroid function checked.
Me too. I have no answers either just trying to get through each day
Same here. My gut feels terrible and appetite is fading ( not that I can't stand to lose some weight.)
