I have to disagree! Better safe than sorry. I had a LUL lesion and without hesitation my pulmonologist ordered a PET scan. There's always that chance..... get's that differential diagnosis out of the way and you can continue with CT scans for follow-up. Seen too many "shoulda, woulda, could's in my time!

What size was the lesion when he ordered a pet scan? My Dr said it was too small to show anything on a pet scan. Which makes sense, he measured it at 6mm, but the radiologist read it “spiculated .9cm “ I realize that is still small but the pulmonologist report didn’t mention “spiculated”. I believe like you , “I’ve heard too many people I know who have dealt with cancer , say “they want to keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn’t grow”. Only to be told later “we can’t do anything” thank you for your advice. Hope you are doing well.
