Neuropathy: What works and what are scams?
I am new to this forum although I have been suffering with peripheral neuropathy for 2 years (none diabetic). Like most sufferers I have searched endlessly to find supplements that provide some relief and a possible cure. My search has proved how impossible this quest is and so expensive due to misleading adverts and down right scams.
What would be really helpful if members posted their experiences with supplements they’ve tried , which were useless/helpful or obvious scams. I am sure there must be some helpful supplements out there and we would all benefit if these were posted on this forum.

I was taking alpha lipoic acid before I could really determine if it worked it started to give me heart burn that was unbearable so I stopped taking it. I was taking b12 with it as well. I replaced both with a product called Nervive that did nothing will not buy anymore of that. I will start back with the b12 I had not side effect from it and hopefully in time I will be able to determine if it work.. I am taking Pregabalin it was working as long as it was in my system the symptons are bearable they never go away. However now that does not seem as effective.
I had a similar experience with R-Alpha Lipoic Acid. Can anyone verify that a qualified uK Neurologist has confirmed that taking R-ALA is beneficial for peripheral neuropathy. I see adverts, U tube endorsements etc. etc. confirming that R ALA definitely works but not once have I seen this product recommended by a UK neurologist. I want to see some real evidence. These products are expensive
I have peripheral neuropathy in both legs which is very painful. My neurologist prescribed Baclofen for me and it works great. It is not a supplement but it works.
I agree most tabs are simply food supplements which won't harm or help ov used one of the top ones from USA for 4 years I believe they are a good company but alas did not work for me and they are expensive one neurologist told me to try to cut out an item of my diet only one try for a couple of weeks then try another etc one patient found red wine exasperated her p n I am trying this with 3 items at the moment trying 2 much at once can lead to failure james in ireland
Hi Debra, I suffer with the same complaint. Do you mind if I ask how many capsules do you take per day and does it give you heartburn. What time do you take them.
All The Best, John
I take two 300mg capsules twice daily (2 in am and 2 at night) for 1200 mg. It can cause nausea and stomach issues for some people. I know some that have had to gradually increase the dose for a week or so before going to the full amount by starting with 100 mg which probably means you would need to buy a batch of 100 mg Na R-ALA capsules.
Thanks for that, I think I will give it a try

Does baclofen work better then lyrica?
I have searched for Immuvites Na R-ALA 300mg and I can’t find them. I can find other strengths but not the 300mg.
John
It might just be the way it's advertised. This one says 600 mg daily serving but the daily serving is 2 capsules at 300 mg to get the 600 mg serving - https://www.amazon.com/Stabilized-R-Alpha-Increased-Absorption-R-Lipoate/dp/B07DP8DHBH.
