Scalp psoriasis

I have had scalp psoriasis only on the right side of my head for the last 25 years. It's getting worse and has spread to the left side as well in the last couple of years. Used topical steroids for tears but the last couple of years have been on biologics including Cosentyx, Enbrel, Otezla and now on Tremfya which I told me dermatologist I wanted to try because she has pretty much given up. Nothing has worked and I have now been on Tremfya for 16 weeks with zero improvement. The itch is horrendous and I find sleep very difficult and never feel rested. I don't use anything on my scalp except steroids twice a week max the night before I wash my hair. I try to limit the hair wash to every 4 or 5 days because that also irritates it. I went to a trichologist (hair and scalp expert) and she used a solution which was apparently developed in Japan to help cool the skin of people who had sustained serious burns. She couldn't believe it when my scalp started burning and she had to wash out the product immediately. Does anyone else have this problem??

Thanks so much...yes I have tried pretty much everything you mentioned. Currently using Nioxin scalp recovery shampoo....I'm also trying to prevent hair loss. As I said none of the biologics have worked so far. Last night was horrendous.....I was awake until 4am with severe itching on both scalp and arm....the itching arm I actually think was caused by Covid....no rash just unbearable itch which I spread with Dermovate and Elocon and cider vinegar!! Anything for a moments relief......has anyone else experienced this pruritis post covid??

@leemoore13 i too had severe scalp and body itch before I started Bimzelx. My dermatologist gave me a prescription for Gabapentin which helped initially but stopped working after a couple of weeks. I found Benadryl helped ease the scalp itch long enough for me to fall asleep. Now that I am on Bimzelx, of course, I do not need anything else as the itching and scaling are over.

Thanks for that! I have another issue and can't use antihistamines like Benadryl....I also tried gabapentin but it doesn't really agree with me...although I take both on occasion if it's really bad. Was your body itch caused by psoriasis? Did you have plaques or just itching without plaque or rash?

@leemoore13 on my head it was plaques as well as just generally all over the head, but on my body it was itching all over (with the psoriasis patches already there) and also generally all over. Now that I am on Bimzelx, I don’t itch and when I do occasionally, Aveeno lotion is enough - possibly because of dry skin.

I wonder if there is an alternative to antihistamines like Benadryl, Reactine, Aerius, etc. that you could take …?

Thanks for thst. I waa curious because the only place I have psoriasis is my scalp and neck. The itching on my arms has no connection to psoriasis and I was wondering if anybody else had the same after covid .
