I have had CLL since 1996 and rules may have changed, but my first hematologist did not want me to have the shingles vaccine at that time. He said it was a live virus and could activate shingles. Fast forward to 2016 and I had the worst case of shingles for 3 months, so if you can tolerate the shot I would recommend it over the possibility of shingles!

You make an excellent observation because the original vaccine was live virus, although attenuated. The "new" Shingrix vaccine is NOT live virus, but recombinant and delivered in 2 doses. It's typically available to anyone over 50.
