Osteoporosis and Prunes
I just ran across an article (not a recognized medical magazine) that states the eating 5-6 prunes a day can reverse osteoporosis? Anyone know anything about the possible connection? or see anything to this effect in a reputable medical source? @gailfaith

I would suggest adding water just to cover and then a low, light simmer (rather than a boil) just for a short time until soft. Consume both the prunes and the water. The water will be very sweet and will also help keep things moving!
Gee whiz I didn't know that prunes can help with bone loss. That was a good idea to cook the prunes and to save the water. Sounds very interesting - will give it a try.
Prunes do not reverse osteoporosis.
Prunes are a good source of Vitamin K. But so are leafy greens. On it's own it would be helpful, but I don't think it's a solution to bone loss without lots of other interventions, dietary, exercise and lifestyle. From Pub Med: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/11684396/#:~:text=The%20human%20intervention%20studies%20have,works%20synergistically%20on%20bone%20density.
If this actually worked, we wouldn’t be troubled by osteoporosis!
This article says that eating 5 or 6 Prunes a Day May Help Preserve Bone Health. THAT"S VERY DIFFERENT THAN REVERSING OSTEOPOROSIS!!!!

The study itself states: "Prune consumption for 12 months preserved cortical bone structure and estimated bone strength at the weight-bearing tibia in postmenopausal women". Preserving what you have is not the same as "reversing osteoposoris" to my understanding, although it sounds like a great benefit.

just wanted to note that prunes do not contain vitamin D.
We used to put sliced lemon in the stewing water. Delicious.
