In 2020 I was diagnosed with PXF, both eyes. In spring 2023 my pressure was in the low 20s in both eyes and started on latanoprost. It got down to 7-8 by summer. In winter 2024 it's back into the low 20s, still on latanoprost. Last week my eye doc said I should have surgery for my 2+ cataracts because with PXF it's more successful when the surgery is done earlier. I'd like to get a second opinion but have no idea how to find the docs with experience doing cataracts on PXF glaucoma patients. When I ask, the offices cannot tell me how many cataract surgeries they do on PXF patients. Any advice? I'm 68 and don't want to risk complications and/or blindness just yet.

@jeanlordas I hope you found another service provider. Check out Allina in Bloomington, MN. I respect the doctor and surgeon there.

These hospitals would have the best doctors that handle your complex case of cataracts, PXF and glaucoma.
If you can't arrange for the best go to your nearest major academic hospital
When calling a MAJOR ACADEMIC HOSPITAL, say:
“I have pseudoexfoliation in both eyes, rising eye pressure on latanoprost, and 2+ cataracts.
I need to see a surgeon who performs complex cataract surgery, especially cases with zonular weakness or PXF glaucoma.”

This will route you to:
• cataract/anterior segment surgical faculty
• or glaucoma-cataract dual-trained faculty

They will not send you to a routine cataract-only surgeon.
