Use of grounding mat
Does anyone use a grounding mat for inflammation. I was reading that these mats help. Was wondering if anyone was getting help for ear pressure or fullness.

Hello @delweb98, I haven't used a grounding mat myself but as a kid I used to love to go barefoot and it seemed that I was rarely sick as a child. I can't go barefoot anymore due to my lymphedema and having to wear compression socks during the daytime and only taking them off when I go to bed. There are other members who have mentioned using a grounding mat but I don't think I've seen a comment about using one for ear pressure or fullness. While you wait for members with experience using a grounding mat, I thought you might like to scan through the comments posted by other members on the use of grounding mats - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/search/comments/?search=grounding%20mat. Have you read any research articles on grounding mats helping with ear pressure or fullness?
I have been sleeping on a grounding mat for about one year at the suggestion of my son. I have not had a cold or sickness during that time. Also I think my spider veins have improved somewhat.
However, I too have ear fullness, tinnitus and hearing loss which continue to get worse with time. I’m suffering from what I believe to be long Covid symptoms that the mat has not helped. My symptoms include ear issues, blurring vision and constipation. I’m still trying to find help for these problems.
I had also hoped the mat would help.
Thank you so much for your help. I wanted to say that I was told that placing your feet on the grounding mat helps much more. I will keep you posted. I am getting allergy shots now for over 18 months. Now I am told hearing aids may help. Gid only knows.Lol
I do rest my feet directly on the mat (knees bent, soles of feet on mat) while falling asleep. I use a couple pillows to elevate my head and wondered if my head should be directly on the mat? But, typically with ear issues you’re told to elevate your head a bit.
I don’t know. I keep sleeping on it just because it may have some benefits.
I was hoping that this would be the answer. Now I’m not to sure since you are still having problems.
I too was hoping the mat would help with tinnitus…
I just hope they find an effective treatment for it soon…

Your experience may be different from mine. I think this falls under the “can’t hurt” category.
I believe the main claim for grounding is an improvement in circulation. While it may have helped me some, it didn’t make an improvement in my main complains, which of course was disappointing.
Good luck to you.
